Definition

Coccidioidomycosis is an infection caused by Coccidioides immitis, a dimorphic fungus.

Treatment

Many forms of coccidiodomycosis do not require therapy because they usually resolve spontaneously. However, patients with, or at risk of having the severe forms of the disease are treated.

Causes

The infection is from inhaling arthroconidia.
