When it comes to the time for decisions to be made about living arrangements and care for the elderly, the misconception surrounding the quality of care homes is fairly widespread.
Many care providers seem to be more aware that not all older people want to just sit in a chair, watch TV or listen to the radio and therefore the facilities the care homes for the elderly offer are beginning to reflect this.
Reading a recent article about The Amwell Care Home in the Leicester Mercury at the beginning of March I decided to have a closer look at their website to see what they offer their residents.
“The Amwell is a private luxury care home offering Residential, Respite, and Nursing & Dementia Care in Melton Mowbray.”
This statement taken from their website made me keen to look further as to what they offer their residents in the way of luxury and from an outsiders perspective, the home certainly looks to be at more of a 5* hotel standard rather than a care home.
The Amwell seems to offer everything to its residents including the promise of a “unique retirement living experience” and they are certainly proud of their holistic approach to care.
The facilities listed at their riverside location include:
- LUXURY EN-SUITE ROOMS
- ON-SITE CHEF • FINE DINING
- SALON • GYM
- CINEMA ROOM
- SECURE, PRIVATE GARDENS
- RESIDENTS’ BISTRO
- MINI BUS & CHAUFFEUR DRIVEN CAR
As The Amwell is so newly opened there is no rating for them as yet by the Care Quality Commission however, from the information available online I would anticipate any ratings to be favourable.
Other luxury care homes to look out for include:
Chelsea Court Palace ▪ Godswell Park ▪ Glenhurst Manor ▪ Hampton Care
